Save the date for the Yeah Girl: Homecoming photo exhibition

The Yeah Girl exhibition is returning to the Gold Coast, Australia, where it all began 3 years ago. We’re doing things a little different this time and inviting back all our past exhibiting photographers — from 2016, 2017 and 2018 — to be part of Yeah Girl: Homecoming.

It’s an impressive lineup of photographers including Sarah Meurle, M Dabbadie, Maria Lima, Sarah Huston, Lisa Kindberg, Nam-Chi Van, Louisa Menke, Mimi Knoop, Linnea Bullion, Virginia Fernandes, Nayat Cheikh, Zorah Olivia, Alana Paterson, Jocelyn Tam, Sonia Ziegler, Jenna Selby, Norma Ibarra, Anairam de Leon, Hannah Bailey, Nao Oka and Kathleen Hayes.

The exhibition will form part of the Concrete Culture program at Home Of The Arts’ (HOTA) “Home” Festival this December. The one day program also includes a demo and skate jam by Precinct Skate Shop and a learn to skate workshop with Rock N Slide.

As part of the Yeah Girl exhibition we’ll be screening skate videos from The Skate Witches and have a Look Back Library pop up with a collection of magazines featuring ladies of shred from the 1960s till 2019.

All photos included in the exhibition will be auctioned to benefit Skateistan, a non-profit organization that uses skateboarding as a tool for empowerment. Skateistan have a particular focus on girls and use skateboarding as a way to connect them with education and engage them in activities where they would usually be excluded. In Afghanistan, girls can’t ride a bike, but they can ride a skateboard. Thanks to Skateistan, skateboarding is now the number one sport for girls in Afghanistan.
