Kicking off the Yeah Girl 2017 photographer announcements we’re stoked to introduce Virginia Fernandes, a videographer and photographer from France who has shot skateboarding in the USA, India and beyond.

In 2016 Virginia documented the Girls Skate India Tour shooting both digital and analogue photography and producing the full tour movie. We’ll be showcasing some of these photos and more from Virginia at this years exhibition.

Next on our 2017 lineup is Zorah Olivia from the USA. She began her skate photography career at age 16 when she took on an internship at Camp Woodward and has been documenting professional skateboarders ever since.

Shooting for Mahfia.tv, Zorah has photographed some of the world’s biggest skate industry events including X-Games, Street League and the Vans US Open Tour.

Yeah Girl CPH 2017 photographer Sonia Ziegler
Sonia Ziegler

Sonia Ziegler

Having graduated from Bryggeriets Gymnasium only a year ago, traveled to the far corners of the globe and with a few photo awards under her belt, Sonia shows skill far beyond her years. At only 20 years old, this Copenhagener’s future is looking very bright and we’re honored to be showcasing her work in this years exhibition.

Despite dabbling with photography in her early teens it wasn’t until Sonia began studying at Bryggeriets (Malmö’s skateboard school) in 2013 that she really started to experiment and take it seriously. Even with so few years behind the lens, Sonia has a very impressive portfolio of powerful shots. Whether she’s photographing the Dalai Lama or a skateboarder, she has a natural gift for capturing the moment.

Yeah Girl CPH 2017 photographer Jenna Selby
Jenna Selby

Jenna Selby

Jenna is one of the UK’s most influential women in skateboarding, having founded Rogue Skateboards and produced two all female skate films including ‘As If And What?’ in 2012 and the recent ‘Days Like These’. She’s been documenting girls skateboarding in the UK for a number of years and we’re excited to share her photos with you in Copenhagen this year.

As part of last years Yeah Girl events we premiered Days Like These in Australia. The feedback for this film was incredible and her photos are equally well received.

Yeah Girl CPH 2017 photographer Linnea Bullion
Linnea Bullion

Linnea Bullion

Though not a skater herself, while studying in the skate mecca that is Barcelona, Linnea became fascinated by the way skateboarders saw the world and has been documenting them ever since. Her work has been featured by PDN, Juxtapoz and Bitchslap Magazine. From skate life to still life and the most impressive selfies you have ever seen, Linnea captures it all.

Linnea has covered events like CPH Open and Exposure Skate Comp, focusing on the lifestyle behind skateboarding rather than the tricks themselves. In 2016 she curated an all-female photography exhibition titled ‘you should have been there’. What can we say, she’s a woman of our own heart and we’re stoked to be showing her photos in Copenhagen this year.

Yeah Girl CPH 2017 photographer Nayat Cheikh
Nayat Cheikh

Nayat Cheikh

Both Nayat and her twin sister Sara are well-known and well-respected skaters within the Barcelona skate scene and if you’ve ever met them you will have noticed the incredible bond they share. Through her recently conceived project ‘sarabynay’, Nayat captures photos of Sara, both on and off her board, from a twins point of view.

Nayat and Sara have a fascinating story which has seen them go from a childhood living in a refugee camp in the Western Sahara to a life of skateboarding in Barcelona. You can read about their inspirational story in Sara’s interview with Free Skateboard Mag.

Yeah Girl CPH 2017 photographer Jocelyn Tam
Jocelyn Tam

Jocelyn Tam

Jocelyn Tam was born and raised in Hong Kong. Following time spent living in Australia and London, her curiosity in youth led her to work on a series of documentaries with skateboarders across Europe.

These documentaries form her project ‘Skate Create Unknown’, which shines the spotlight on creative people who are passionate about skateboarding. Shooting portraits on film, her photos depict her interpretation of the subjects story.

Jocelyn has shot editorials for IdN Magazine and Place Skateboard Culture and has represented Nikon Asia.

Yeah Girl CPH 2017 photographer Alana Paterson
Alana Paterson

Alana Paterson

Rounding off our 2017 photographer lineup is the one and only Alana Paterson. With a client list including the likes of Nike, Levi’s and HUF Alana has paved her way to a successful photography career.

It all began with skate photos of her friends at home in Canada and though she now documents many different sub cultures and lifestyles, skateboarding still remains a reappearing subject in her work.

When it comes to skate photos, Alana focuses on the aesthetic first and the skating second. Working with the surrounding architecture and environment, Alana’s images tell stories that go beyond the trick.
