Having never stepped foot on a skateboard before, 68-year-old Elaine Shallcross set out to land a shuvit to raise money for breast cancer research, and in doing so she created a movement.
Elaine was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and sadly lost her battle in June this year. Our hearts are heavy and our thoughts are with Elaine’s family and friends.
July 10th would have been Elaine’s 69th birthday and it was the deadline she had set to land a shuvit. The date is now World Shuvit Cancer Day and everyone is encouraged to land a shuvit on her behalf and help raise money for breast cancer research.
You can help to continue Elaine’s fundraising efforts by making a donation here.
Take a look at Elaine’s skateboarding journey on her Instagram and don’t forget to tag #shuvitcancer on your shuvit clips on July 10th in Elaine’s honor. You can also get involved in the Girl Skate UK Team Shuvit Cancer Fundraiser for a chance to win a GSUK package.
