Kathleen Hayes is an old-school surfer and skateboarder from Long Island, NY. She is also a photographer.
She gravitates towards the macabre and kitsch in her fine art work, drawing inspiration from her suburban roots, Halloween, her love of the sea, punk rock, surf and skate culture, and her relationships within the LGBT community. Kathleen uses her camera to document those singular American subcultures.
Kathleen earned her Masters in Digital Photography at The School of Visual Arts in New York and works as a photographer in Brooklyn. In 2015 she created a zine called ‘Shred Til You’re Dead‘ which documents the first real generation of middle-aged skateboarders on the East Coast.
