Footnote: A Yeah Girl Retrospective

2026 marks ten years of Yeah Girl and we’re marking the occasion with the premiere of a new documentary and a panel event on the Gold Coast, Australia, where it all began.

Footnote: A Yeah Girl Documentary celebrates ten years of Yeah Girl and looks back at the evolution of women’s and gender-diverse skateboarding over the last decade.

The documentary features X Games medalist and skateboarding pioneer Mimi Knoop; artist and former professional skateboarder Louisa Menke; photographer and community organiser Norma Ibarra; sociologist, skateboarder and change-maker Dr Indigo Willing; and Yeah Girl founder Sarah Huston.

The documentary will premiere on October 4th 2026 as part of BLEACH Festival at HOTA on the Gold Coast, Australia. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Poppy Starr Olsen, Dr Indigo Willing and Tora Waldren, moderated by Sarah Huston. We’ll discuss topics including the rise of women’s skateboarding over the last decade on the Gold Coast and globally, the success of local skateboarders on the world stage, the impact of the Olympics on skateboarding culture, the importance of creativity in skateboarding, and more.

Tickets for the event are free but registration is essential. Reserve your seat here.
