“Blue and Other Colours” is Eloise Dörr’s 5th solo exhibition, showing her latest series of acrylic paintings on birch plywood.
Eloise’s signature silhouette skateboarding characters roll the streets at night in this new body of work. The paintings are palette focussed, projecting the sombre feeling of the empty city at night by use of muted blues, which highlight the bright flashes of artificial light from the city’s street lamps, shop windows and cars. The distinctive loud rumble of pushing down the street during those quiet nights is accentuated by her color choices, the subtle blues contrasted by a flash of light.
Skateboarding is a recurring theme in Eloise’s work and has been a consistent source of inspiration since she first picked up a skateboard 7 years ago. The similarities and comparability between art and skateboarding have aided Eloise in creating a colorful microcosm centered around these small blob like creatures, all based around the magic of curiosity!
“Blue and Other Colours” opens at the London Stance store on Saturday, June 15th.
